Opinions differ widely about what his work means. Is he an artistic genius, political activist, painter and decorator, mythic legend or just a famous hooligan who causes criminal damage in public places? If you live in London, you're almost bound to have seen his work somewhere or other. It always carries a Banksy ?signature?, in the sense that it's almost always recognisable as his work (rather than him airbrushing his name all over it). Unless it's squatting in the Tate or New York's Metropolitan Museum. So he's a man of culture too. Bit of a lad, ain't he?
Banksy has painted streets, walls, bridges and zoos of towns and cites throughout the world and managed to be arrested in many of them too. His identity remains unknown, but his work is prolific.
